and talks about how in scripture, this is the first revelation of
God. This icon helps us understand why Jesus was baptized
and the importance of baptism bearing fruit.

Fr. Michael O’Loughlin
Fr. Michael O’Loughlin is the pastor of Holy Protection of the Mother of God Byzantine Catholic Church in Denver, Colorado, where he hosts a discussion series for young adults in the Denver area. He can be heard on Sirius Catholic Radio sharing his love for Christ, the Gospel, the Mother of God, and the Byzantine Catholic Church, and he participates extensively in Young Adult life in the Archdiocese of Denver. Fr. O’Loughlin has also appeared on EWTN’s Sunday Night Prime with Fr. Benedict Groeschel.
Elizabeth
Zelasko
Elizabeth studied fine arts at the School of Visual Arts in NYC before attending Prosopon School of Iconology where she studied traditional Russian Orthodox iconography also in NYC. She then moved to Denver to finish her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, graduating as valedictorian of her class. Elizbath works with Catholic publishers, institutions, churches and private collectors to create commissioned pieces of art. Over the last 15 years, Elizabeth has given numerous talks on the theological aspects and the material processes of creating traditional icons and the importance of sacred art in the home.
